Teen Book Club - 100 Sideways Miles

Our April book club will discuss 100 Sideways Miles by Andrew Smith.

Finn Easton sees the world through miles instead of minutes. It’s how he makes sense of the world, and how he tries to convince himself that he’s a real boy and not just a character in his father’s bestselling cult-classic book. Finn has two things going for him: his best friend, the possibly-insane-but-definitely-excellent Cade Hernandez, and Julia Bishop, the first girl he’s ever loved.

Teen Book Club - Black Dove, White Raven

Our March book club will discuss Black Dove, White Raven by Elizabeth Wein.

In the plane crash, Teo's mother died immediately, but Em's survived. Rhoda is determined to raise Teo according to his late mother's wishes—in a place where he won't be discriminated against because of the color of his skin. But in 1930s America, a white woman raising a black adoptive son alongside a white daughter is too often seen as a threat. Seeking a home where her children won't be held back by ethnicity or gender, Rhoda brings Em and Teo to Ethiopia

Teen Book Club - A Song for Ella Grey

Our February book club will discuss A Song For Ella Grey by David Almond.

A Song For Ella Grey is a modern take on the myth of Orpheus and Eurydice. Claire and Ella and their friends are bound by ties so strong they seem unbreakable. Then the strange and handsome Orpheus strolls onto the beach, and he sings them all into an astonishing new understanding of themselves. Ella is caught the hardest, fastest, deepest—and Claire is left with the pain of looking on.
