Teen Book Club - Black Dove, White Raven

March's Teen Book Club selection with be Black Dove, White Raven by Elizabeth Wein.

When Teo's mother dies in a tragic accident, he is sent to live with his mother's best friend Rhoda and her daughter Emilia. As his mother wished, Rhoda seeks to raise Teo in a place where he won't be discriminated against because of the color of his skin. It is difficult to raise a racially-blended family in 1930s America, so the family moves to Ethiopia for a fresh start. With the threat of war in their new country, Teo and Em are drawn into the conflict of culture, family, and friendship.

Students in grades 6-12 are welcome to sign up for Teen Book Club at the Eaton Library. There will be 10 spots available each month. A free copy of that month’s book will be available to participants when they register. Book Club members are expected to finish the book before our scheduled meeting at the end of the month. Our reading selections will vary by genre, topic, and  age. Some young adult books may contain mature themes, so reader discretion is advised.
