DESCRIPTION:The West Alexandria Branch Library will be closed on Saturday\, October 10th. But don’t despair—come out and see us in the Oktoberfest Parade! \nAfter the parade be sure to visit the Friends of the West Alexandria Library Book Sale. Please note our location in the park has changed and we will be at the back of the park this year. There you will be able to browse a large selection of items including nonfiction and fiction\, magazines\, CD’s\, DVD’s\, children’s books\, books for teens and so much more. All items are sold by donation. Money is used to help with additional programming needs. \nBe sure to pick up our October and November programming calendar so you know everything that is happening. We will have information about many things the library offers. \nNew to the Festival this year on Sunday\, October 11th\, is Oktobefest Kandy Trail from 3:30-5:30 pm and of course we will be handing out goodies at our booth. \nSo be sure to stop in and see your local librarians\, get information to stay informed and take home some new items.

DESCRIPTION:Do you like to write\, draw\, or create art? We would love to showcase your work! Artists and writers in grades 6-12 can submit 2D art\, short stories\, poetry\, and more to be included in the publication of the Preble County District Library Tween & Teen Zine! Submissions accepted beginning October 20. \nSubmission Guidelines- For Tweens & Teens Grades 6-12\nThe theme for our first issue is: “I am Human” \nYou may submit up to a total of 5 of the following genre categories*:  \n\nPoems of no more than 1000 words total.\n 2D art: submit digital copies if possible. If not\, we can scan the original piece.\nShort story of no more than 1000 words in length.\nWant to submit something different? Keep it to no more than 3 pages total\, or contact us for more information!\n\n*Limit of 5 submissions for review per person. NO guarantee that any or all will be selected. \nSubmission Guidelines: \n\nAll submissions must be original and your own work\, but partnerships are allowed! (Submissions made primarily using AI will not be considered.)\nWe do not want to limit our patrons’ creativity\, but be aware that this publication is intended for all audiences. DESCRIPTION:Hey boys and ghouls! Come to the West Elkton Branch on Wednesday\, October 21st\, from 4:00 PM to 5:00 PM\, for a pumpkin decorating contest (no carving). There will be two separate contests\, one for kids and one for teens. \nHow it works: We provide the pumpkins and decorating supplies\, and you bring your A-game and creativity! Decorate your pumpkin and display it at the library until 5:00 PM on Wednesday\, October 28th. Whichever pumpkin gets the most votes in each contest wins! Voting begins October 21st and ends October 28th—one vote per day\, per person\, during regular business hours. Voting MUST be in person. Pumpkins must be decorated and remain at the library until October 28th. Pumpkins are for the contest only. Winners will be announced at 5:00 PM on October 28th\, during our Witches’ Brew Social. Pumpkin entries and prizes may be picked up between 5:00 PM and 5:30 PM on October 28th. \nPlease register no later than October 14th\, by calling the West Elkton Branch at (937) 787-4873. Space is limited.
