Our first book club will discuss The Art of Secrets by James Klise at the Eaton Library on Saturday, Dec. 9 at 1 p.m. Sign up in advance to receive a free copy of the book to read before the program!
Here's a synopsis:
When Saba Khan's apartment burns in a mysterious fire, possibly due to a hate crime, her Chicago high school rallies around her. A piece of art donated to a school fund-raising effort for the Khans is revealed to be an unknown work by a famous artist, worth hundreds of thousands of dollars. Should Saba's family have all that money? Or should it go to the students who found the art? Or to the school? And just what caused that fire? Greed, jealousy, and suspicion create an increasingly tangled web as students and teachers alike debate who should get the money and begin to point fingers and make accusations.
*Teen Book Club takes place once a month, with a meeting to discuss a selected YA book. Ten spaces will be available for each session, allowing book club members to receive their own personal copy free of charge. Registration is open monthly, and only applies to that specific session. Please read the book in its entirety before the scheduled meeting. This program is available for grades 6-12, but YA titles may contain mature themes and language, so parental discretion is advised.*
