Ohio in the Civil War

May 16 @ 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm

The Preble County Local History and Genealogy Room welcomes distinguished historian Mark Holbrook as he discusses Ohio’s role in the Civil War.

Mark Holbrook has been a member of the Ohio Humanities Speakers Bureau for sixteen years. He served as marketing director at the Ohio History Connection for nine years, where he also served as Civil War Historian. For the past 20 years, he has worked as a consultant for tourism and history-based organizations. Mark is a native Ohioan, a graduate of The Ohio State University, and an avid student of history. He is also the owner of History Is Personal, a consulting firm specializing in tourism and heritage destination development.

This event will be held on Armed Forces Day and during the month of May to honor Memorial Day. The program will focus on how troops, generals, factories, farms, Ohio, and Ohioans helped change the outcome of the Civil War. It will also examine how the war, in turn, changed Ohio and its people. We will explore these changes and the contributions of Ohio and its residents during America’s Civil War. This program is part of the Preble County Local History and Genealogy Room’s celebration of America 250.
