Contribute

Ways to support your local library:

Curious to know what just a dollar donation can do for your local library? For every dollar you contribute, you and the community get a $4.00 return.

Books and Other Donations

We accept gently used materials for book sales with proceeds benefiting our programming budget. You may also choose to donate local history materials to the Preble County Room, our genealogy department.

Cash and checks donations are gratefully accepted. These support our general fund. You can also specify what you would like your donation to support.

Book Sales

Proceeds from books you purchase support your local library’s programming budget and make events possible. Often a library can purchase special items such as craft supplies, prizes for Summer Reading, or decorations.

Friends of the Library Groups

A library friends group is a formal association of people who unite to plan and execute, in conjunction with library goals and the needs of the library director, programs and events to benefit the library. In particular, a friends group is often heavily involved in fund-raising for the library and often oversees periodic book sales. Friends groups always serve at the pleasure of the library board which is the only body with legal authority to set policy for the development of the library.

  • Participate! Booksales and fundraisers are the main ways the Friends raise money for the library.
  • Make a Difference! The Friends have provided copy machines, shelving, program money for children’s programs and more for their branch.
  • Volunteer! Your library is now looking for Volunteers to help with booksales.

The focus of each Friends group is to benefit their community’s library. You can support them by purchasing books or baked goods at their sales, or by volunteering your time to help them. For more information, contact your local branch.

If you would like to join your local branch’s Friends group please contact the corresponding branch librarian. We have Friends for Camden, New Paris, and West Alexandria.
